Technology has hurt the movie making industry, and shrank careers, like it has all other industries in entertainment

Yes, I notice technology has also hurt, and greatly shrank the careers of future current and former actors, actresses.

In the past all talent was funneled through a very small narrow corridor known as Hollywood

But now days, anyone with a camera, even a cell phone camera, can try to produce a movie and post it online, and multiply that by millions, and that's a lot of eyeballs no longer focused on the big studios of Hollywood.

I think the actors of the 90's, early 2000's were the last to have a lock on stardom, like Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and others of his generation and before, they were the last ones to benefit from the narrow funneled talent stream before big tech totally widened the door.

I remember when every movie that was released would be, could be, seen on the major networks

But now, can't tell you the last time I saw a movie release, can't even tell you what movies are premiering.
In the past, when a new movie came out, it was the buzz of everyone, not anymore.

In the past every ones attention was funneled to a few sources of media, but now with 1000's of sources of media the viewing audience is really saturated.

Now you have websites that exclusively deal with movie releases, and or You Tube, and or 100's of other sites I can't even name, every things a special niche now, and that's the problem.

I can't even tell you who the current big Hollywood celebrities are anymore

I mean unless you're a 'niche' follower, you won't even know who the latest big named male and female actors are, I certainly don't...I mean who's the current Will Smith?

Saturation has ruined the entertainment industry, at least it has ruined the previous model of it

In the past, all eyes were focused on just a handful of actors and performers, and so these few actors become generational icons, not anymore.

Where is the current Burt Renold's? or Patrick Swayze or Clint Eastwood, or even Dyane Johnson (The Rock)?

In todays environment actors/actresses like this just can't be built up anymore.

Now studios just seem to use any no name generic actor to fill the spot, and focus more on special effects to satisfy the audience.

Seems now actors play one role in a movie, and then you never see them ever again, they go back to being a stage hand or something.

In the Past Hollywood came to me, I don't have to seek them out

In the past Hollywood came to me, invited 'me' the viewer to 'come see', but now one has to seek them out by going to websites or 'niche' sites, and casual viewers just don't do that...to the casual viewer, if it's not in front of us, we don't seek it out.

It's why like on antenna TV, the older block buster movies still played, with recognizable actors, cause in today's cinematic environment there really are no big stars anymore, just people who fill roles.

Now you have a better chance of standing out in a commercial than you do today's movies, actors in commercials get more exposure, and become household figures more so than actors who appear in one and done movies...sad but true.
